Description “Big Brothers Big Sisters of York enriches the lives of children by providing positive role models through one-to-one and group mentoring programs.” Our Vision: “Every Child Who Needs a Mentor, Has a Mentor.” 
Serving children between the ages of 6 to 16, Big Brothers Big Sisters of York primary focus is to empower York Region’s next generation through life-changing, high impact mentoring programs. For over 45 years, BBBSY has made a positive difference in the lives of children in our community. BBBSY;s mentoring programs provide a positive role model and adult friendship for at-risk children, most often from low income, single parent or newcomer families who are struggling to adjust in a new country. Mentoring programs are proven to reduce children's risk of skipping school, violent behaviour, drug & alcohol use, while increasing self-confidence, community engagement and family relationships! 
"ISM; In-School Mentoring, Recreation Mentoring, Game On, Go Girls, Conversation Circle, Community Matches; Big Brother, Big Sister one-to-one traditional programs.

Application Volunteers must attend an Information Session, submit an Application (includes References and a Vulnerable Sector Screening, attend a Pre-Match Training Session, and participate in an assessment/interview. Application form is available on the website.  
Little Brothers and Sisters must complete an application and participate in an assessment/interview, along with their guardian/parent.
