Description & Services
Description Teaching hospital * offers a wide range of acute care * emergency care * ambulatory * variety of long-term care services offered to patients including residents of the Seniors' Health Centre * community and Legal Aid Service Program at the Branson Ambulatory Care Centre 
Translation of hospital information and materials into other languages arranged and coordinated through the Diversity Services * please contact Dorothy Wong, Diversity Services at 416-756-4976. 
Patients and their families will receive interpretation support during emergencies in the Emergency Department when receiving test results or a diagnosis treatment and other instructions about their ongoing care after a hospital stay or clinic visit * Diversity Services offers face to face interpretation service to our physicians and staff to arrange a professional interpreter, speak with your health care provider. 
Languages Services Toronto interpretation phones offered at the General Hospital Site * Seniors' Health Centre Branson Ambulatory Care Centre. The service offers 24/7 access to 170 languages.  
Visitors, patients and family members to the hospital can use the Scotiabank Language Services Kiosk upon arrival at NYGH * touch screen kiosk provides maps and directions of the hospital in English * Cantonese * Mandarin * Russian * Korean * Persian * Farsi * French 
The kiosk can provide a printed copy of the maps and directions of programs/units * helps guide the patients/visitors to their destination.
Special Description Chaplains are available to discuss with patients and their families issues or concerns as they cope with illness sensitivity to rites and traditions of different religions * accessibility to representatives of different faith groups 
Prayer books * Christian bibles * Jewish prayer shawls * Jewish prayer books * Sabbath candles * Muslim prayer mats * Buddhist chanting machine * rosary beads * Kippas * other faith ritual items are available on request * provide Christian sacraments and Roman Catholic Eucharist on request * regular worship services held at the General Site and Seniors' Health Centre * if interested, speak to your nurse or call Spiritual & Religious Care at (416) 756-6311 * special services are held for major Jewish and Christian holidays  
General Site: The Louise Kirby Multifaith Chapel is located on the Main (Lobby) floor near the Gift Shop * Sunday Christian worship takes place at 10 am * special services are held for major Jewish and Christian holidays * other services may be requested.  
Seniors' Health Centre: A multi-faith chapel is located on the 3rd floor across from the elevators * Sunday Christian Worship at 2:30 pm * monthly Communion service * Daily Muslim prayers Weekly Sabbath services * to reach a Chaplain, Minister, Priest, Rabbi, Imam or other Spiritual Care Giver will meet * please call (416) 756-6311 * pastoral visitors of different faith backgrounds visit regularly.

Evening, weekends * holidays * emergencies * please have the nurse call for a Roman Catholic priest * a Jewish Rabbi * or the on-call chaplain through paging * an on-call Chaplain is available 7 days a week.
